Located in the heart of Downtown Troy, Ruby's Beauty Salon was established in 1941 by Grandma Ruby! At one time she owned 4 salons in the surrounding areas - you guessed it, all named Ruby's! She was a polio survivor, breast cancer survivor, and at one time employed 5 out of her 7 sisters! For decades, Ruby was truly a beacon in the community, working behind the chair till the age of 91- i know right?! Keeping the business and the legacy alive, the salon is now run by Jonny + myself, serving Troy and the greater Dayton area for for eighty-five years!
Stylists like Grandma Ruby paved the way for all of us in this industry and it is more than an honor to carry on her legacy!
PRESENT
In January 2020 our salon was hit by a small tornado, forcing us to shut down for the entire year. However, we were able to do a significant remodel which was NEEDED! It was super important to us to keep the vintage feel of the salon while also modernizing at the same time. Ruby was truly a feminist before her time!!!
And I’m telling you, — you can feel that powerful feminine energy in the salon to this day!
